We wanted to create an atagonistic character who was iconic and that after the audience had finished watching the film they would remember the character extremely well. Furthermore we also wanted to create a character who people would be familiar with despite not having seen the film through word of mouth, merchandise and various trailers. I myself had been very familiar with the character Freddy krueger when growing up but did not actually watch the film where he was created "Nightmare on Elm Street" recently. He is a horror symbol and when people think of horror the image of Freddy follows quickly for many people, we want to create a character who has this kind of effect on audiences and those who havent even seen our film.
